Kathleen Petty is a Canadian news journalist. For five years, she hosted Ottawa Morning on CBC Radio Ottawa and The House, a CBC Radio One programme about Canadian politics. Prior to joining CBC Radio, Petty helped launch CBC Newsworld in 1989 and worked 17 years with the national news network.
On 31 May 2011 Petty announced that, as of fall 2011, she would be giving up both roles to move back to her native Calgary to take a position hosting the CBC Radio Calgary morning program Calgary Eyeopener.[1]
On 11 August 2011 Petty announced she is "delaying a move from Ottawa to her hometown of Calgary so she can deal with a health issue".(Breast Cancer)[2] [3]
Petty was born in Calgary, Alberta.
She hosted Canada Now on CBC Newsworld during the primetime hours and CBC News: Today from Calgary with co-host David Gray. She had been with CBC Newsworld since its creation in 1989.
